Stocks and shares ISA

What is it?

A Stocks & Shares ISA is a tax-free investment account available to UK residents. It allows you to invest in things like shares, index funds, ETFs, and bonds without paying any tax on capital gains, dividends, or withdrawals.

The ISA allowance

Each tax year (6th April -> 5th April), you can put in upto £20,000 across all your ISA accounts combined (Cash ISA, Stocks & Shares ISA, Lifetime ISA or Innovative Finance ISA).
