What is screen resolution?
Screen resolution measures how many pixels your screen has. For example:
| Name | Resolution | Total pixels |
|---|---|---|
| Full HD (1080p) | 1920 × 1080 | 2.1 million |
| QHD (1440p) | 2560 × 1440 | 3.7 million |
| 4K UHD | 3840 × 2160 | 8.3 million |
| 5K | 5120 × 2880 | 14.7 million |
| 6K | 6016 × 3384 | 20.4 million |
| 8K UHD | 7680 × 4320 | 33.2 million |
The bigger your screen, the higher the resolution you want. A 27-inch screen with 4K resolution will look sharper than a 34-inch screen with the same 4K resolution because the 34-inch screen will spread the same ~8.3 million pixels over a larger physical screen.
