Motorway lanes

• Left lane: Normal driving
• Middle and right lane: For overtaking. Once you overtake, switch back to the left lane.

Speed limits

• Motorway & Dual carriageway: 70mph
• Single carriageway: 60mph
• Cars towing a trailer: 10mph less than usual
  • Motorway & Dual carriageway: 60mph
  • Single carriageway: 50mph
• Normal roads with street lights: 30mph

Types of crossing

Toucan crossing

A crossing which both pedestrians and cyclists can use and where they control the traffic lights using push buttons.

Puffin crossing

A pedestrian crossing where pedestrians can control the traffic lights using push buttons.

Vehicle lights

• Blue: Emergency services
• Green: Doctors’ cars
• Amber: Slow moving vehicles like tractors
