What is a regulated financial activity?

A regulated activity is any activity listed in Part 2 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 that requires a person/firm to obtain explicit authorization from the FCA before carrying it out.
Examples include:
- Issuing electronic money
- Carrying out contracts of insurance
- Arranging deals in investments
- Advising on investments
- Arranging regulated mortgage contracts
- Debt counselling
- Debt administration
- Providing credit references
