  • Use software to overcome memory limits
    • Don’t rely on memory to remember things. Write things down in a note-taking application so that you don’t have to remember most things. When you need to recall some information, use the note-taking app to retrieve it. Delegating to memory in this way frees up your brain to focus on more creative things.
  • Improve your thinking by thinking on paper
    • When you write on paper or software, you quickly identify which of your thoughts are incoherent and so need refining. As you repeat this cycle of writing -> realising incoherent thoughts -> refining, your thoughts will crystallise into something more coherent. As you refine your writing, you refine your thoughts.
