Exposure and Response Therapy (ERP) is a type of therapy that encourages you to face your fears and let obsessive thoughts occur without “neutralizing” them with compulsions.

You deliberately put yourself in situations that cause anxiety / provoke your obsessions and then let the anxiety remain until it gradually diminishes and goes away.

You do this repeatedly until you retrain your brain to learn that the anxiety eventually goes away by itself and that you don’t need to engage in compulsions to deal with them.
