Keep the writing and editing phases clearly separate. First, dump your ideas on paper without concern for style or grammar. Only after you’ve dumped everything and connected different thoughts should you proceed to edit.

Mixing writing and editing will overload your brain with excessive and contradictory commands or lead to analysis paralysis.

It might help to convince yourself that you’re only writing down your thoughts for yourself and that you may consider it for publication later.
